AL ATEX DUST – installation instructions

AL ATEX DUST centrifugal fans are intended for industrial ducted ventilation systems installed in potentially explosive combustible dust atmospheres. Before installation, verify that the equipment's ATEX classification is suitable for the designated hazardous area.

Mounting

  • Secure the fan to a rigid supporting structure suitable for its weight and operating loads.
  • Provide access to the motor, casing and maintenance points.
  • Prevent ductwork from transmitting excessive mechanical loads to the casing.
  • Before commissioning, inspect the mounting fasteners and make sure the impeller rotates freely.

Duct system and airflow

Forward-curved centrifugal fans must operate connected to ductwork or with sufficient additional aerodynamic resistance, such as balancing dampers. System resistance must limit airflow so that the absorbed motor current does not exceed the permissible value stated on the motor rating plate.

Casing orientation

The standard discharge orientation is LG270°. The casing can be rotated in 45° increments, excluding the 180° and 225° positions which require special factory construction.

Electrical connection

  • Connect the electrical supply according to the motor rating plate and applicable ATEX requirements.
  • Ensure protective earthing and suitable protection of electrical connections.
  • Connect the PTC thermistors to a suitable motor thermal protection circuit.
  • Use frequency inverter speed control of three-phase motors only under conditions approved by the manufacturer.

Commissioning

  • Check impeller rotation direction and freedom of movement.
  • Inspect duct connections and protective components.
  • Measure the absorbed motor current and compare it with the rated value.
  • Check for abnormal vibration, noise and motor overheating.
  • Do not exceed the specified airflow and temperature limits.

Maintenance

Regularly inspect the casing, impeller, motor and protective devices. Prevent deposits of combustible dust. Before maintenance, isolate the electrical supply, protect against accidental restart and follow safety procedures applicable to explosive atmospheres.
