Outdoor exhaust and supply vent covers

Outdoor, exterior, outside exhaust and supply vent covers

Why do you need outdoor vent covers?
An exhaust vent covers is the final part of a ventilation or heat recovery system designed to bring air into or out of the room. These covers usually have protection against precipitation, wind, insects or rodents. An outside vent covers with backdraft stopper is designed for the discharge of air from the premises and prevents the system from introducing air back into the system, i.e. when air is discharged outdoors, the pressure generated by the airflow opens the valve and when the system is switched off the valve closes by itself. This prevents dust or insects from entering the ducts and blocks cold air from returning to the duct during cold season. Outdoor vent covers are often used to complete the ventilation system for hoods or bathroom exhaust fans through the wall.

A brief overview of the advantages of outdoor vent covers:
  • protects against precipitation
  • protects against insects and rodents
  • prevents cold air from entering the system when it is switched off, thus avoiding cold air and condensation on the outside of the system in the event of a cold
  • protects against wind - especially vent covers with backdraft stopper and hood
  • protects against solar radiation

Here are some examples of the correct installation of a ventilation system for exhaust air.

Installing the cooker hood ducts:

  • we recommend using plastic or insulated antibacterial ducts
  • install backdraft stopper designed to mount completely inside the duct in the outside wall duct, approximately in the middle of the duct, with the axis vertical
  • install an exterior vent cover with a valve on the outside of the external wall
  • install the duct in the outside wall with a 1-2° slope towards the outside, so that if condensation occurs inside the system, it will not accumulate in the duct and will flow outside
  • install
Briefly summarise the advantages of this system: the installation of plastic or insulated antibacterial ducts provides maximum airflow with minimum resistance and silence, the installation of a duct in a wall with a slope will not accumulate condensation, the installation of a two-valve system (one inside the duct and one in the outdoor ventilation grille) will provide maximum protection from cold and from the build-up of condensation on the outside of the duct.

Installation of the ducts for the bathroom fan exhaust system:
  • install the duct in the outside wall with a 1-2° slope towards the outside, so that if condensation occurs inside the system, it will not accumulate in the duct and will flow outside
  • install a ZZ-type backdraft damper in the fan duct (if you have purchased a bathroom fan without a backdraft damper)
  • install an exhaust vent cover with a backdraught shutter on the outside of the wall
The advantages of this system are identical to those of the cooker hood system - backdraught shutters in the duct provide protection against frost and prevent condensation from accumulating.
We stock an exceptionally large range of exterior vent covers, so if you order online we will deliver within 1-2 days at the best price.
